Dog Sports for Active Dogs

When Chardy Ang first walked through the doors of BetterDog three years ago, he had a 4 month old Jack Russell Terrier named Skye who would do her basic sits and downs plus a handful of tricks for treats. After consuming the treats, however, she would run away and do whatever she pleased.

At BetterDog Chardy learned the importance of building a strong bond with his dog through our canine sports programs like dog agility, disc dog, and rally obedience. And his life was never the same again.

In 2012, three years and three Border Collies later, Chardy and his dogs Skye and Yuri, won their first place championship trophies in the Philippine Dog Athletics Association (PDAA) National Dog Agility Competitions. Soon after that Chardy and Skye, and his team of extraordinary Border Collies, Yuri, Cheska, and Andi were  hailed 5-time champions in the Talentadong Pinoy Worldwide Show on ABC5.

Chardy continues to train at BetterDog, knowing very well that a trainer's job is never done.

Some dogs and particular breeds need a lot more exercise and stimulation on a daily basis than others. Very often living in the city deprives them of the opportunity to fulfill their needs from the environment. Hunting and herding animals as they are, these dogs will need more than the casual walk around the block to keep them from becoming a nuisance at home. BetterDog understands these needs and offers classes in a variety of competitive dog sports.

APDT Rally-O!

Novice/Open/Utility

APDT Rally Obedience is the latest team sport for dogs and their handlers! It combines the discipline of competitive obedience with the fun and excitement of an obstacle course. Dog and Handler teams navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform such as Sit-Down-Sit, Straight Figure 8, Send Over Jump, Recall Over Jump. Teams navigate the course at a brisk, continuous performance without direction from the judge. Requires completion of at least the Family Dog One Program.

Recently, APDT Rally has been acquired by the US Dog Agility Association (USDAA) and will soon be part of  the Cynosport World Games.
